Immunology as a key to better health—that’s the motto for immune system research, its connections to other systems of the body, such as the metabolic system and the nervous system, and its direct bearing on human health and various diseases.
The Medical Immunoscience and Infection degree program explores immunological topics from a medical perspective. The primary objective of this research-oriented international degree program is to prepare students for future careers in medical research. In terms of its content, the program focuses on the underlying mechanisms and the treatment of immune-mediated, inflammatory, and infectious diseases. Students acquire specific knowledge in the areas of translational, immunological, and infectiological research. Approaches currently followed in immunology and infection research are discussed in literature seminars, and students apply them directly to their research projects. Students can set individual points of focus by choosing the elective modules they prefer. Upon completion of their master’s degree, students are equipped with all the essential skills and abilities needed for independent academic work and a successful research career.
