Program Overview

The Master's program in Water and Environmental Engineering at Aalborg University is a 2-year full-time degree taught in English, focusing on the construction and management of systems for water supply and drainage. It emphasizes the protection and sustainable use of groundwater, streams, fjords, and seas.

The program addresses critical challenges such as urban water supply, wastewater treatment, soil and groundwater pollution, and adapting infrastructure to climate change. It highlights the vital importance of water infrastructure, which holds the highest economic value in society.

Students engage with pollution of soil, groundwater, drinking water, and aquatic environments, examining interconnected systems and their environmental impacts, for example, oxygen depletion in fjords caused by soil pollution or flood risks from climate change.

Graduates are equipped to work in consulting engineering, environmental departments, public administration, research institutions, and teaching. The program combines theoretical knowledge, practical lab work, field studies, and advanced computer modeling.

This interdisciplinary program prepares students for long-term careers in water and environmental engineering with strong employment prospects globally.
