Program Overview

The MSc in Nature Management at the University of Copenhagen is a two-year interdisciplinary program focused on sustainable management and development of nature and landscapes. It integrates biology, ecology, human needs, and environmental legislation to provide a comprehensive understanding of ecosystem functions, biodiversity, and landscape planning. The program combines thematic courses, restricted electives, and elective courses, including fieldwork, project work, and excursions. Students can also do practice projects or study abroad as part of their electives.

The curriculum emphasizes three pillars: biology/ecology of nature types and ecosystem services; management and legal regulation of natural areas; and human impact on landscapes, including conflict management and sustainable planning. Graduates are qualified for roles in public administration, consultancy, NGOs, international organizations, and research institutions, working on nature restoration, policy, and sustainable landscape management.

Career opportunities include strategic and operational roles in municipalities, ministries, consultancy firms, NGOs, and research.
