1st Semester (Introductory/Foundation)

  • Prepares students for the six specializations offered.
  • For students with a bachelor's from Aalborg University, it includes advanced courses in the chosen specialization.
  • For students from other universities, there is an introductory semester focusing on problem-based learning, control theory, and Matlab.
  • Typically includes courses and projects related to the specialization that build foundational knowledge.

2nd Semester

  • Focuses on advanced courses and project work tailored to the chosen specialization.
  • Example courses may include:
    • Interaction between wind power generation units and electrical loads (for Wind Power Systems)
    • Advanced power electronics
    • Optimization theory and reliability
    • Dynamics and modeling in electrical and mechanical systems
  • Mix of oral and written examinations based on projects and coursework.

3rd Semester

  • Either continues with advanced projects in the chosen specialization or offers a voluntary traineeship, which is a project-oriented study in an external organization to gain practical industry experience.
  • Elective courses can also be taken.

4th Semester (Master's Thesis)

  • Dedicated to completing a major thesis project (30 ECTS or optionally a longer thesis of 50 ECTS) focused on a significant research or development problem in energy engineering.
  • The thesis is supervised and evaluated through an oral exam.
