Program Overview

The MSc in Professional Engineering is intended for engineering graduates or those in a closely related discipline who wish to extend their expertise to a higher level in preparation for a professional career. The MSc Professional Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Council’s Engineering Gateways initiative. 

Professional Development Audit
Reflect upon and critically analyse aspects of your work based on related learning in the context of addressing the UK-Standard Engineering Competence (UK-Spec) for a Chartered Engineer.

Learning Contract
Identify gaps in academic and professional knowledge, and develop a detailed learning contract to outline learning objectives and devise a programme of work-related study that meets the requirements of the programme and the UK-Spec.

Existing and Emerging Technologies
Evaluate and critically assess existing and emerging technology and/or techniques in seeking an optimal solution.

Engineering Design

Students must complete six core modules and one Public Health Project, in addition to selecting two optional modules, depending on their chosen route.

  • Epidemiology and Biostatistics (optional route dependent)

Entry Requirement

Academic

As Public health is a multidisciplinary course, we accept a wide range of undergraduate degrees onto our MSc Public Health with a minimum entry criteria of a 2.2. In addition, applicants require a minimum of one year relevant work experience. I

IELTS - 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in Writing and 5.5 in each component.
