Program Overview

The MSc in Global Development at the University of Copenhagen is a two-year, full-time, interdisciplinary research-based program taught in English. The curriculum combines seven compulsory courses in the first year, including a mandatory field course in a low or middle-income country, with a flexible second year that allows specialization through electives, internships, study abroad opportunities, and a master’s thesis in the final semester. The program equips students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for analyzing and addressing complex global development issues, preparing them for careers in international organizations, NGOs, private companies, and consultancy roles related to global development, economic growth, and social change.

Students graduate with the ability to critically analyze social, economic, and political development processes, communicate effectively across cultures, and contribute to evidence-based solutions for global challenges. The program also offers rich cultural exchange through its diverse international student body and hands-on field research experience
