Program Overview

Business informatics encompasses the conception, development, and application of business information systems, as well as the analysis, design, and utilization of information in business processes. As an interdisciplinary field that bridges computer science and business administration, its technological and methodological foundations stem from computer science, while its application areas primarily lie in the business sector.

Accordingly, the teaching and research subject of the Business Information Systems degree program at the University of Potsdam is divided into standard compulsory and elective modules on computer science, including areas of theoretical, practical, applied, technical, and human science computer science, as well as on business administration, including courses on organization and human resources, marketing, start-up and innovation management, and taxes and auditing.

During an eight-week internship, students experience firsthand that business informatics is more than just the intersection of two disciplines; human and social components also play a crucial role in the successful coordination of corporate strategy and information processing.
