Course Structure

Semesters 1 and 2: Foundation studies

Students begin with engineering mathematics, physics, fundamentals of electrical engineering, programming, digital technology and measurement technology. These modules establish the scientific and technical foundation required for later studies.

Semesters 3 to 5: Advanced engineering and specialisation

Students study electronic components and circuit design, systems theory, electromagnetic fields, microcomputer systems, control systems, measurement technology and practical laboratory modules. They also begin selecting specialist and elective modules.

Semester 6: Practical semester

Students complete project work and a 20-week industrial internship, which may also be completed abroad.

Semester 7: Final semester

Students complete advanced project work, specialist modules, an elective module, Data Fusion and Artificial Intelligence, and a bachelor's thesis worth 12 ECTS.

Applicants must hold a valid general higher education entrance qualification, a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, an advanced technical college certificate, a recognised qualification for qualified professionals, or a comparable foreign university entrance qualification. English proficiency at B2 level is required. THWS lists IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0 and TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 83 among the accepted B2 English proofs. Applicants with international university entrance qualifications should request the Bachelor VPD preliminary review for THWS early. THWS states that processing normally takes at least four to six weeks.

Register in the THWS CampusPortal

Create an account using an active email address and begin the application for the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology during the official application period.

Upload the required documents

Submit the required PDF documents, including certificates, transcripts where applicable, certified translations where required, passport copy, VPD document and language proof. Non-EU applicants should also prepare the required TestAS or SAT evidence unless exempt.
