Chemical Engineering is a discipline dealing with creating, developing and designing processes to produce, transform or transport products and materials. It combines the knowledge of natural, experimental and life sciences with mathematics and economics to investigate problems and design solutions for issues such as safety, efficiency and sustainability.
The Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours is designed so you can apply chemical engineering fundamentals to complex problems, conduct investigations, and design solutions with considerations for public health and safety, sustainability, and net zero carbon outcomes.
Graduates of chemical engineering programmes in Malaysia typically have an employability rate of around 82% and an unemployment rate of about 18%, reflecting ongoing hiring for process, design, and technical roles while entry-level competition can vary by cohort.
Together, these figures point to a comparatively stable career outlook for chemical engineering graduates who pursue practical training and industry-relevant skills.

Read the programme entry requirements and confirm your qualification type is listed as an accepted international pathway. Sunway advises applicants to email first to confirm eligibility before applying. Collect your passport, certified academic documents, and your English language evidence (if applicable). Complete your preparation early because international documents and initial payment must be submitted at least eight weeks before the intake date(s).
Fill out and submit the International Student Application Form through Sunway’s international admissions process. Attach all required documents to avoid processing delays, including certified true copies of academic qualifications. Sunway also lists English language qualifications such as IELTS and TOEFL for cases where education is not in English. Incomplete applications cannot be processed, and the International Office may request additional documents as part of evaluation.
After eligibility is confirmed, proceed with the required payments listed by Sunway for international students. Sunway states that once an applicant is successful, offer letters are issued via email within 3 working days. Keep records of your payment confirmations since visa processing is linked to your application status. If your application is submitted too close to the intake date, it may be treated as a late application, which can affect timing for visa readiness.
Follow the offer letter instructions for acceptance and send any outstanding documents stated in your incomplete record checklist. Sunway notes that Student Pass approval processing time can take up to 6 to 8 weeks after submission of the signed acceptance and required documents and payments. After approval, a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) is issued and is valid for 6 months from the issued date. Plan your travel timeline so you can complete any post-arrival requirements after your visa is approved.
