Program Overview

Study one of New Zealand’s only postgraduate programmes in Forensic Psychology and build a clear understanding of criminal behaviour and its impact on victims. This programme focuses on how psychological theory and evidence are used within the criminal justice system, preparing you to work across legal and correctional settings.

You’ll gain practical experience through work in research labs and field placements, engaging with forensic agencies and organisations that support offenders and victims. The course also looks at how forensic psychology connects with real-world practice, including areas such as youth offending, family violence prevention, adult corrections, and investigative interviewing.

Alongside subject knowledge, you’ll develop skills in research, analysis, and applied psychology, which are valued across multiple sectors. Graduates often move into roles such as policy analyst, forensic researcher, rehabilitation facilitator, probation officer, or psychology-related positions.

For students interested in forensic psychology, criminal justice, and applied behavioural science, this programme offers a strong pathway into both professional and research-based careers.
