Career outcomes

  • You graduate with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) qualification in Pflege (dual) while being trained directly in real healthcare settings through cooperative training partners.
  • Because the programme combines academic learning with practice placements, you develop job-ready skills for roles in inpatient (hospital), long-term inpatient (care homes), and outpatient care services.
  • You gain preparation for responsibilities in nursing care planning, delivering nursing services, and supporting patients and relatives through communication and counselling tasks.
  • The dual structure helps you build practical experience early, so you can transition more smoothly into professional work as a Bachelor-qualified nursing professional.
  • You also strengthen capabilities in nursing research and process management, which supports future progression into more advanced and coordination-focused roles in healthcare and care organisations.
  • The programme is designed around a study-and-vocational double qualification, giving you a strong foundation for long-term career development in the healthcare sector.

Employability rate

    📝 How to Apply

    1

Start with the international qualification check

Before preparing your application, check whether your school qualification and/or degree qualification allows you to study in Germany. At HAW Hamburg, your university entrance qualification is assessed through uni-assist, which evaluates the documents for HAW Hamburg. Plan this early because the assessment takes about 6 weeks.

    2

Prepare the special dual programme requirements

For this dual nursing programme, you need an apprenticeship/training contract for the academic nursing education or a binding commitment from a provider of the academic nursing education. You also go through a multi-step process that starts with applying to one of the programme’s cooperating training partners. If you do not yet have the signed contract at the time of your online application, a written commitment may be used initially and the signed contract must be submitted later.

    3

Apply online via the official HAW Hamburg portal

Submit your application online during the published application period for the winter semester. The programme application is submitted via the myHAW application portal (not via hochschulstart). Make sure you upload your required documents (including language proof and qualification documents) before the deadline so the admissions team can review your application.

    4

    Submit hard copies if requested

After submitting your online documents, monitor your emails and your myHAW account for updates and any requests. If your application is successful, you will have to submit hard copies of some documents according to the admissions instructions. Keep your documents ready in the requested format for timely submission.
