Program Overview

Physics is the science that forms the basis of our cognition. The primary purpose is to describe and predict natural phenomena. The driving force is to reveal the basic laws that govern the universe. Nothing less.

With internationally awarded and acknowledged research groups at the forefront of physics, the University of Southern Denmark has one of the most versatile and dynamic academic environments to offer you a specialised education in the fields of computational physics, particle physics and cosmology, quantum optics, or soft matter and statisticsal physics.

You can apply if you hold a similar degree with subject elements in physics equivalent to at least 75 ECTS, as well as fundamental subject elements in mathematics, statistics, and programming. The physics subject elements must include the following: 

  • Introductory quantum mechanics
  • Classical mechanics
  • Electromagnetism and optics
  • Thermodynamics
  • Statistical mechanics
  • Experimental physics

Once you apply, the study board will assess whether your degree is qualifying.

Notification of change in entry requirements for study start February 2026: 

Addition of a requirement for an Independently written assignment (bachelor project) 10 ECTS.
