Program Overview

The Master's in Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark immerses students in research on chemical compounds for pharmaceuticals and modified DNA to target infected cells. The first semester covers core disciplines like spectroscopy, inorganic, organic, analytical, and theoretical chemistry. In the second semester, students can specialize or undertake a company project domestically or internationally. The second-year Master's thesis allows students to contribute new knowledge, supervised by university researchers or in collaboration with external experts.

You can apply if you hold a similar degree containing a minimum of 80 ECTS within chemistry, including:

  • 15 ECTS Organic Chemistry including laboratory exercises.
  • 15 ECTS within Analytical Chemistry, Spectroscopy and/or Quantum Chemistry.
  • 30 ECTS General Chemistry.
  • 10 ECTS Independent written assignment (bachelor project).

Course Structure

The Master's Degree Programme in Chemistry takes two years to complete, and each academic year is divided into two semesters.


Constituent courses - 1st semester 

Constituent courses: Choose 10 ECTS KE8xx coded courses

Module A:

Students with a bachelor degree in chemistry can take: 

  • 10 ECTS KE8xx coded courses or IAKE8xx coded individual projects. 5 ECTS must be graded according to the 7-point grading scale

Students with a bachelor degree in engineering must take: KE540: Quantum Chemistry and Modelling + 5 ECTS KE8xx coded courses or IAKE8xx coded individual projects.

Study start test

 

It is mandatory to pass the study start test within the first month after study start. 

Notice:Besides KE826 and KE801 at least 10 ECTS must be graded according to the 7-point grading scale
