DIPLOMA Hochschule Hamburg · Online, Germany
QS World University Ranking: N/A
The E-Business specialisation forms part of the Bachelor of Science in Wirtschaftsinformatik at DIPLOMA Hochschule. The interdisciplinary degree combines information technology, business administration, law and technical foundations so that students can understand, plan and implement digital processes, information systems and software solutions in companies and public organisations.
Within the Smart E-Business specialisation, students examine automated business processes, the development of E-Business applications and a practical E-Business project. The programme can be completed online, includes a practical phase and concludes with a Bachelor thesis and colloquium.
The 180 ECTS curriculum contains 132 ECTS of interdisciplinary compulsory modules, an 18 ECTS Smart E-Business specialisation and 30 ECTS for the practical and final modules. Several compulsory modules extend across more than one semester, so the official curriculum blocks are used rather than inventing semester-specific credit distributions.

| Recognised foreign university entrance qualification | Applicants with qualifications obtained outside Germany must prove that their school-leaving qualification is equivalent to a German university entrance qualification. The recognition assessment determines whether the qualification permits general or subject-specific university admission. |
| Previous university study where required | A school-leaving certificate obtained outside the European Union may not provide direct admission by itself. The university notes that applicants who have already completed two to three semesters of relevant university study in their home country may be able to apply directly after their qualification has been assessed. |
| Studienkolleg and Feststellungsprüfung | Applicants whose foreign school qualification does not provide direct university entry must normally complete a relevant Studienkolleg pathway and pass the Feststellungsprüfung before beginning the bachelor's programme. |
| German language proficiency | International applicants need German proficiency of at least CEFR level B1. B1 is also stated as a prerequisite for admission to the preparatory Studienkolleg route. |
| Study area | Match possible? | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Business Information Systems | Direct match | The programme is designed for applicants seeking an interdisciplinary combination of information technology, business administration and digital process management. Foreign qualifications must first provide recognised general or subject-specific university entrance eligibility. |
| Computer Science or Information Technology | Related match | A technical or computing-oriented educational background is relevant to the programming, software-development, database and IT-infrastructure components, but no separate subject-specific school prerequisite is officially published. |
| Business and Management | Related match | A business-oriented background is relevant to the management, financing, controlling, marketing and process-management components, but applicants must also complete the programme's required computing modules. |
The programme is taught in German. Applicants educated outside the European Union need German proficiency of at least CEFR level B1 according to the university's international applicant guidance.
| Component | Required? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| TestAS | not_required | The university describes TestAS as a voluntary aptitude and self-assessment test for international undergraduate applicants, not as a compulsory admission examination for this programme. |

TestAS is not stated as a compulsory admission examination for this programme. The university presents it as a voluntary aptitude test that international applicants can use to assess their readiness for undergraduate study in Germany.

Confirm whether your foreign school-leaving certificate provides direct university admission in Germany and whether it grants general or subject-specific eligibility. DIPLOMA requires applicants with foreign qualifications to prove equivalence before admission. Applicants without direct eligibility may need previous university study or the Studienkolleg and Feststellungsprüfung route. Complete this assessment early because the outcome determines the correct application pathway.
Collect your passport, curriculum vitae, photograph, certified school certificates and complete academic records. Prepare proof of German language proficiency at a minimum of CEFR B1. Include records from previous university study when they are needed to establish direct admission eligibility. Applicants following a preparatory pathway must also provide the relevant Feststellungsprüfung evidence when available.
Submit the application through DIPLOMA Hochschule's official online registration system. Registration for the distance-learning programme is possible throughout the year because the university does not publish a fixed application deadline. Select Wirtschaftsinformatik B.Sc. and the intended online or study-centre format. The regular starts are April and October, while another entry date may be approved following an individual assessment.
The university reviews whether your foreign qualification, German proficiency and supporting documents meet the admission requirements. It may request further evidence or an individual recognition assessment. Applicants without direct university entrance eligibility must complete the required preparatory route before enrolment. Proceed with visa and financial preparations only using the admission outcome and instructions issued for your case.
Applicants who need a German study visa should apply through the responsible German mission before travelling. Prepare the admission evidence, valid passport and accepted proof of sufficient funds. For 2026, the official federal guidance states a blocked-account amount of at least EUR 11,904. Visa processing can take considerable time, so begin this process as soon as the university has provided the necessary admission documentation.
