In the field of biochemistry, you will study the dynamics and processes of protein genesis and their interactions at the intracellular and extracellular levels. These processes are of practical relevance, among other things, in the investigation of causes and therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and the development of treatments for tumor formation. Molecular biology, on the other hand, explores molecular processes at the cellular and organismal level, thus opening up perspectives in genome research, cell and systems biology, and plant and animal physiology.
In addition to exploring current research topics in biochemistry and molecular biology, you will gain comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the structure and use of biological databases, enabling you to utilize internet-based resources and apply systems biology principles to the analysis and interpretation of high-throughput data. You will also learn various manipulation and detection techniques, as well as test new methods in nanobiotechnology.
