The Bachelor's degree program in IT Systems Engineering is offered by the joint Digital Engineering Faculty of the University of Potsdam and the Hasso Plattner Institute. In addition to the fundamentals of classical computer science, the program provides an understanding of networked IT systems, including their planning, development, and maintenance. The program focuses on various modeling techniques, programming techniques, software architectures, and fundamental software systems. Students can choose their own areas of specialization.
A special feature of the program is its strong practical relevance, thanks to an integrated bachelor's project in the fifth and sixth semesters. Students work on specific tasks from industry and society. Students learn how to develop structured and targeted software solutions and manage complex IT systems in teams, using distributed roles. The program teaches critical key competencies and career-specific qualifications relevant to the successful management of complex IT projects, as well as various courses on entrepreneurship and design thinking topics, within the Professional Skills Colloquium.
