📘 Program Overview

The Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) (Artificial Intelligence) at Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation is a full-time 3-year programme designed to help students design and develop systems using artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning, fuzzy logic, and natural language processing.

The programme structure builds from foundational computing skills and introductory AI concepts into more advanced AI techniques, with specialised modules and pathway subjects that support development of complex software systems and opportunities to build and evaluate AI applications.

🎯 Course & Curriculum

Course structure

Degree Level 1
  • Build core computing foundations that support programming, problem-solving, and AI-ready skills.
  • Start AI-focused learning outcomes aligned to artificial intelligence concepts used in modern applications.
  • Develop the mathematical and technical base needed for later Machine Learning and AI modules.
Degree Level 2
  • Advance computing and AI development skills through deeper technical coursework.
  • Strengthen practical application of AI techniques including machine learning concepts.
  • Progress toward more specialised AI engineering and analysis capabilities.
Degree Level 3
  • Apply AI knowledge through more advanced study and industry-aligned learning outcomes.
  • Prepare for professional roles through project-style learning and application of AI methods.
  • Finish the degree with the final set of modules needed to complete Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) (Artificial Intelligence).

Career outcomes

  • You graduate with a direct pathway into AI-focused roles such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer and Machine Learning Engineer.
  • You develop the hands-on problem-solving ability expected for Deep Learning Scientist and AI Specialist roles as you progress through AI-focused learning outcomes.
  • You build job-ready skills for real-world systems including Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engineer work and Machine Vision Engineer responsibilities.
  • You gain a stronger foundation to become an AI Platform Architect or Algorithm Specialist by studying how AI techniques are applied to complex software systems.
  • You can target a broad set of computing and IT careers because the degree is designed to support multiple AI application areas across business and technology teams.

Employability rate

For computing graduates in Malaysia with AI-focused training, an estimated employability rate is around 82% and an estimated unemployment rate is about 18%, reflecting steady hiring for software, AI, and data-related roles.

📝 How to Apply

1

Submit your student application and documents

Apply for the programme using APU’s application process and prepare certified true copies of your academic qualifications (with English translation where applicable). Include your English language results (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/MUET as required) so APU can assess your eligibility for the international programme intake. Clearly indicate the programme you are applying for and the intake date in your submission.

2

Receive the offer and confirm admission for visa processing

If you meet the eligibility criteria, APU issues a Letter of Offer. To enable APU to proceed with your student visa application, you must confirm your enrolment and complete the required pre-arrival application processing payment (RM 3,600) along with the documents requested for visa processing. Provide passport details, certified academic documents, and your English certification results as part of the visa application preparation.

3

Visa processing with EMGS and preparation to arrive

After APU receives your complete documents and the required student visa and application fees, your application is submitted to EMGS for student pass processing. During this stage, you should follow APU guidance to avoid unnecessary delays, and keep track of your application status. After approval, you will receive the relevant visa approval information and further arrival instructions from APU.

4

Arrive in Malaysia and complete arrival formalities

Before departure, ensure your documents are in place, including your letter of offer and student pass approval documentation for immigration clearance. APU’s international student procedure also mentions that international students must complete required arrival steps such as Malaysia Digital Arrival Card submission prior to or during entry.
